The Oklahoma City Thunder will put their 16-game winning streak on the line when they square off against the San Antonio Spurs in the semifinals of the 2025 NBA Cup this coming Sunday (PH time) at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
The Thunder continued their perfect start to their NBA Cup campaign after beating the Phoenix Suns 138-89 in the quarterfinals last Thursday. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led OKC in that blowout win, dropping 28 points and 8 assists. He leads the team in scoring and assists this season, averaging 32.6 points and 6.5 dimes per game this season.
They will next lock horns with the Spurs, who are coming off a 132-119 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers in the quarterfinals. Stephon Castle recorded 30 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists for the Spurs, who won for the ninth time in their last 12 games.
A major reinforcement may be on his way for the Spurs in the semifinals, with San Antonio coach Mitch Johnson confirming after the Lakers game that Victor Wembanyama could return to action this weekend against the Thunder.
Wembanyama has missed the Spurs’ last 12 games after injuring his left calf in the game against the Warriors last Nov. 14. He’s averaging 26.2 points, 10.9 rebounds and 3.6 blocks per game this season.
This will be the first meeting between San Antonio and Oklahoma City this season.
