The Detroit Pistons held off a late Boston surge to escape with a 112-105 victory over the Celtics in their 2025-26 NBA regular season matchup on Tuesday morning (PH time) at TD Garden.
Cade Cunningham was the steadying force for Detroit, delivering a superb 32-point, 10-assist double-double as the Pistons improved to 21-5 on the season. The contest was tight and physical throughout, with neither side able to create real separation until Detroit unleashed a decisive 7-0 run to stretch the lead to 10 with 5:52 remaining.
Boston refused to fold. Jalen Brown buried a three to trim the deficit to seven, before Derrick White took over, knocking down a triple and scoring again to pull the Celtics within one possession in the final 2:46. The closing minutes turned into a duel, with Cunningham and White trading baskets as the clock wound down.
Down five in the final 42 seconds, Payton Pritchard had a chance to cut the lead further, but his long attempt came up short, allowing Detroit to seal the win.
The Pistons next face the Dallas Mavericks on Friday, while the Celtics (15-11) look to bounce back when they host the Miami Heat on Saturday.
