The Oklahoma City Thunder ran roughshod over the Los Angeles Clippers, 122-101, in a lopsided NBA Western Conference showdown on Friday (PH time) at Paycom Center.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the way with 32 points, 7 rebounds, and 6 assists, all while sitting out the entire fourth quarter due to Oklahoma City’s commanding lead. Chet Holgren also had a huge game with 22 markers and 7 boards.
After holding a slim advantage early in the third, the Thunder clamped down defensively and seized full control of the game. A surge of offense followed, with OKC outscoring Los Angeles 39-28 in the period to open up a 103-83 cushion heading into the fourth.
Oklahoma City showed no letup in the final frame, even calling a timeout after the Clippers briefly trimmed the deficit to 20. Lacking firepower, Los Angeles never seriously threatened, as the Thunder cruised to an easy win.
The victory pushed OKC to an NBA-best 25-2, with a matchup against the Minnesota Timberwolves waiting for them tomorrow. The struggling Clippers dropped to 6-21 and will look to regroup against the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday.
