The Dallas Mavericks finally snapped their two-game losing streak, recording a thrilling 131-130 victory over the Denver Nuggets on Wednesday (PH time) at American Airlines Center. The Mavs survived a late rally from the Nuggets to improve their record to 12-19.
Cooper Flagg starred for the Mavs, who have now won each of their last two meetings with the Nuggets. He scored a game-high 33 points for the Mavs, shooting 14-for-21 from the field. He came close to recording a triple-double, adding 9 rebounds and 9 assists in 40 minutes of action.
He got the party started for Dallas, scoring 14 points in the first quarter. The former Duke star displayed perfection in the opening period, going 6-for-6 from the field in the first 12 minutes of play.
The Nuggets nearly spoiled Flagg’s performance, though. They had an opportunity to steal the away win at the buzzer, but Peyton Watson missed the go-ahead 3-point attempt. With the defeat, Denver fell to 21-8.
Jamal Murray and Nikola Jokic led the way for the Nuggets, scoring 31 and 29 points, respectively, in a losing effort.
