The Detroit Pistons demolished the Los Angeles Lakers, 128-106, during their NBA regular season clash on Wednesday morning (PH time) at Crypto.com Arena.
Cade Cunningham spearheaded the Pistons’ offense with a double-double of 27 points and 11 assists, while Marcus Sasser provided crucial support off the bench, finishing with 17 markers to help secure the road victory.
The Pistons established control through most of the second period, but the Lakers amped up their effort late in the half to trim the deficit to 70-65 just before the break. In the third, Los Angeles fought hard to overtake the visiting team, even managing to tie the game at 79 after Luka Doncic converted a tough and-one play.
However, the Pistons held firm and restored order with a composed run, reclaiming an eight-point cushion heading into the final frame. Detroit then turned the game into a blowout in the fourth, extending the lead to a game-high 26 points as the Lakers struggled with turnovers and defensive lapses throughout the closing minutes.
With the victory, Detroit improved to an Eastern Conference-best 25-8. After successfully completing a five-game road trip, the Pistons will return home to host the Miami Heat on Friday.
