Brooklyn Nets forward Michael Porter Jr. is widely expected to be traded before the NBA trade deadline, according to The Athletic’s John Hollinger.
In his analysis, Hollinger noted that the Nets are well-positioned to capitalize on Porter’s career-best season by moving him for a strong return. Such a move would help Brooklyn clarify its long-term direction and identify who will serve as the team’s core moving forward. With the Nets potentially needing to swap draft picks with the Houston Rockets in the future, the organization has little incentive to tank next season and instead remains focused on adding valuable assets.
Porter has also drawn interest around the league. Earlier reports from Chris Haynes indicated that the Golden State Warriors, Milwaukee Bucks, and Detroit Pistons are among the teams monitoring his availability.
This season, Porter has enjoyed the most productive campaign of his career with Brooklyn. Through 29 games, he is averaging 25.9 points, 7.4 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 1.1 steals per game, while shooting an efficient 49 percent from the field and 39.7 percent from three-point range.
