The Toronto Raptors edged the Philadelphia 76ers, 116–115, in a dramatic overtime showdown at home, handing Philly a narrow loss despite a huge night from Tyrese Maxey. The 76ers played without star center Joel Embiid, who remained sidelined for knee injury management.
Toronto controlled much of the first half, building a 10-point halftime lead behind Scottie Barnes’ strong all-around play. Philadelphia answered with a massive third-quarter surge, outscoring the Raptors 36–18 as Maxey caught fire to swing the momentum in the visitors’ favor.
Late-game chaos defined the fourth quarter. Down four with 13 seconds left, Toronto successfully challenged a call to regain possession. Immanuel Quickley then knocked down a tough jumper to cut the deficit to two.
Moments later, the 76ers turned the ball over on the inbound, and another Raptors challenge gave Toronto one final chance. With just one second remaining, Jamal Shead finished a perfectly timed pass from Barnes for a game-tying layup, forcing overtime at 107–107.
The extra period was just as tense. Rookie Collin Murray-Boyles ignited the crowd with back-to-back dunks to put Toronto ahead by three, but fellow rookie V.J. Edgecombe answered with a deep triple to tie the game at 115. On the final possession, Barnes drew a foul on Kelly Oubre Jr. and split his free throws, providing the winning margin.
Barnes led the Raptors with 31 points, while Murray-Boyles delivered the best game of his young career with 17 points, 15 rebounds, 3 steals, and 3 blocks. Maxey poured in a game-high 38 points for Philadelphia in a losing effort.
The two teams will meet again tomorrow in Toronto to wrap up their back-to-back set.
