The Minnesota Timberwolves bucked early difficulties to eke out a 104-103 victory over the visiting San Antonio Spurs this Monday (PH time) in the NBA regular season at the Target Center.

The Timberwolves stormed back from a 19-point hole in the third quarter, igniting a 33-point surge in the final period to flip the momentum.

Naz Reid buried three timely triples to keep Minnesota within striking distance, trimming the deficit to 85-71 by the end of the third. Minnesota carried that energy into the fourth, opening with a 7-0 run to cut the Spurs’ lead to seven points with 9:02 on the clock.

The game was finally tied to 96-all following an and-one from Julius Randle before Anthony Edwards drained a long two to make it 100-98 in favor of the host team.

From here, Minnesota tightened its grip on Wembanyama as it held on to the comeback win. Edwards topped Minnesota with 23 points, while Reiz collected 17 markers anchored on 3-of-6 from downtown. Donte DiVincenzo came up with 19 points.

The two teams will face off again for their third regular season game on Sunday, January 18, at the Frost Bank Center.

hot commentAfter watching the entire game, I just want to ask one question: How did the Spurs, aside from Wemby, manage to reach the second place in the Western Conference with the rest of this trash?

Win of the year for sure. OKC was nice, but after the way the first three quarters went, to have a fourth quarter like THAT was crazy

Unfortunately, Mitch Johnson has not been very successful in developing young players so far.

Castle has been in such poor form lately. How about having him come off the bench and giving Harper a chance to start?
