The Los Angeles Clippers outlasted the Charlotte Hornets, 117-109, on Tuesday morning (PH time) during their 2025-26 NBA regular season meeting at the Intuit Dome.

Kawhi Leonard finished with 35 points and 5 rebounds, while James Harden scored 32 points with 10 assists as the star duo provided the necessary firepower.

It was a historic night for Harden, who passed Shaquille O’Neal to become the 9th all-time leading scorer in NBA history.

The contest remained competitive as the young Hornets kept pace with the veteran-laden Clippers for much of the night. Tied at 97 with 7:51 left in the final frame, the Clippers took control with an 11-3 run to create a comfortable 108-100 cushion.

Fresh from a Charlotte timeout, the Clippers caught a break when Harden intercepted a pass for an easy fastbreak bucket. That was immediately followed by a quick basket from Kobe Sanders to extend the lead to 112-101.

With under two minutes remaining, the Hornets showed grit as back-to-back LaMelo Ball baskets trimmed the lead to just seven. However, with less than a minute left in regulation, Harden missed a runner, but Jordan Miller was there for the crucial putback.

That was enough to secure the game for the home team and stall the Charlotte rally.

With the win, the Clippers improved to 16-23 on the season. They will look to keep their momentum going when they host the Atlanta Hawks on Thursday.
