Golden State Warriors forward Jonathan Kuminga has formally requested a trade, with multiple teams reportedly expressing interest, according to Shams Charania.

Charania reported on X: "Golden State's Jonathan Kuminga has demanded a trade away from the Warriors as he becomes eligible to be moved Thursday, sources tell ESPN."

Kuminga, who signed a two-year, $48.5 million contract with the Warriors last October, cannot be traded until January 16 due to a clause in his deal. The NBA trade deadline is set for February 6.

According to Charania, Warriors general manager Mike Dunleavy and his front office have been exploring the market for Kuminga. Teams including the Sacramento Kings and Dallas Mavericks have shown interest, with others also considering him due to his flexible contract structure.

Contract negotiations between Kuminga and Golden State last summer stalled, creating tension between the player and the organization. After months of back-and-forth and a limited free-agent market, Kuminga eventually signed a two-year deal with a team option for the second year.

This season, Kuminga is averaging 11.8 points and 6.2 rebounds in 24.8 minutes per game, shooting 43.1% from the field. He last appeared for the Warriors on December 19, having played in just four games over the past month and a half.
