The 27-year-old American fighter, a self proclaimed king, has now truly crowned himself after scoring a first round knockdown against the Mexican-American champion and never looked back from there.
It was a near shutout for Garcia with all three judges scoring 119-108, 120-107, 118-109 in his most polished performance so far in his career.

Garcia improved to a 25-2 record with 20 knockouts while Barrios ended his reign with a 29-3-2 slate.
Garcia put in the work early landing a big overhand right on Barrios who went down in the opening round. The defending champion did manage to get up but he came too cautious of getting hit by another big shot in the ensuing rounds.
That tentativeness served as an invitation for Garcia to unleash his hands more, hitting and scoring on Barrios at will.

By the seventh round, Garcia was picking his spots and landing with ease against Barrios including a three punch combination that ended with a booming right.
Barrios tried to move forward and put the quicker Garcia on the ropes but was repeatedly greeted by hard punches from the American. Barrios sneaked in an overhand right that hit Garcia but his efforts proved to be futile in the end.
