A title change took place during the first 2026 taping of Filipino Pro-Wrestling’s "Astig" at Baked Studios on Sunday.
International star Kushida defeated hometown favorite Quatro in a winner-takes-all match. The bout saw the Japanese standout successfully retain the Major League Wrestling World Middleweight Title while also claiming the FPW Championship.
The crowning of a new champion at the top of the local independent promotion was revealed by FPW through its official Facebook page, with the full match to be released in the coming weeks.

The decision is not unprecedented for FPW. The organization previously placed its top prize on a visiting performer with international exposure.
In October 2024, Jeff Cobb defeated Mike Magdrigal to win the FPW Championship. The belt later appeared during the Filipino-American wrestler’s matches in New Japan Pro-Wrestling, giving the local organization visibility on a global stage.
Cobb eventually vacated the title after signing with WWE in 2025, where he now performs under the ring name JC Mateo.
FPW appears set to follow a similar path with Kushida.
The veteran performer brings an accomplished background that includes six reigns as the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion, a run with the NXT Cruiserweight Championship in WWE, and two victories in the Best of the Super Juniors tournament.
