Alex Eala will resume her campaign at the 2026 BNP Paribas Open on Wednesday (PH time), with the Filipina star set to face Linda Noskova in the round of 16 on Stadium 1 at Indian Wells Tennis Garden.
Eala is coming off a walkover win over No. 4 seed Coco Gauff in the third round last Monday. The Quezon City native was leading 6-2, 2-0, when Gauff decided to retire due to a left arm injury. Noskova, on the other hand, came from behind to beat Sorana Cirstea 6-7 (5), 6-4, 6-4 in the round of 32.

This will be the first-ever meeting between Eala and Noskova on the WTA Tour. They locked horns twice before, though, on the junior level, with Eala holding a 2-0 edge in their head-to-head matchups on that tennis circuit.
A victory here will see Eala reach her third career WTA 1000 quarterfinal. She advanced to the quarters in last year’s Miami Open and last month’s Dubai Tennis Championships.

Eala has struggled against Czech opponents on the WTA Tour, losing each of her last 11 matches against them. Her last defeat against a Czech player came against qualifier Tereza Valentova, losing in straight sets at last month’s WTA 1000 Qatar Open.
