The New York Knicks escaped a valiant effort from the undermanned Golden State Warriors, 110–107, during their meeting on Monday morning (PH time) at Madison Square Garden.
The Knicks erased a 21-point deficit before reclaiming the lead in the fourth quarter.
The contest remained tight down the stretch. Holding a one-point lead with 1:24 left, Jalen Brunson drained a clutch mid-range jumper, but Brandin Podziemski quickly answered with a basket of his own.
Podziemski had a chance to give Golden State the lead in the closing seconds, but his quick-trigger three-pointer fell well short.
The Warriors were then forced to foul Landry Shamet, who extended New York’s advantage to three points from the free-throw line.
Golden State had one last opportunity to tie in the final 16 seconds, but Podziemski opted for a layup instead of a three, giving the ball back to the Knicks with seven seconds remaining. OG Anunoby then iced the game at the charity stripe.
Brunson led the way with 30 points and nine rebounds.
With the win, New York improved to 44–25 on the season. The Knicks will face the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday.
