Meralco got a solid performance from rookie Jason Brickman to beat Phoenix, 93-86, last Saturday in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) 50 Commissioner's Cup at the Ynares Center-Antipolo.
The Bolts got a boost from Brickman after netting 16 points, seven rebounds, and five assists to win the ballgame.

Defense stood firm for the Bolts as they held the Fuelmasters scoreless for four straight minutes, allowing them to stretch the lead to as much as 11 points, highlighted by a four-pointer from Bong Quinto.
The Bolts pushed their advantage to its biggest at 13 points after Brickman knocked down a jumper, moments after Chris Newsome sank both of his free throws.

The Bolts also outscored the Fuelmasters, 20-15, in the fourth quarter to capture the win after a close ballgame in the first three periods.
Chris Banchero topped Meralco with four rebounds, four assists, and one steal. Import Marvin Jones scored a double-double of 15 points and 13 boards. Newsome and CJ Cansino had 11 and 10, respectively.
Earlier, the Bolts distanced themselves with a 6-1 run to claim an 83-78 lead at the 7:16 mark of the fourth quarter. Meralco never looked back since then as they dealt the Fuelmasters their first loss in the import-spiced tournament.

Phoenix import James Dickey III still had a phenomenal performance of 28 points, 21 rebounds, two steals, but had five turnovers. Ricci Rivero topscored the locals with 22 markers.
Meralco vies to stay unbeaten on Friday when it goes up against Rain or Shine at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.
Phoenix Super LPG eyes a bounce back victory when it battles Terrafirma on Wednesday at the Ynares Center-Antipolo.
