The Los Angeles Clippers headed into the halftime break with a 61-53 lead over the Golden State Warriors in their NBA Play-In game on Thursday (PH time) at the Intuit Dome.
Kawhi Leonard powered LA’s offense in the first half, scoring 14 points on 5-for-11 shooting. He also had 6 rebounds and 3 assists in 20 minutes of action. Darius Garland also was in double figures with 11 points.
The Clippers got off to a strong start, building a 31-22 advantage after the first quarter. The Warriors came storming back, though, opening the second quarter with a blistering 13-0 run to take a 35-31 lead.
The Clips immediately responded, though, unleashing a 21-7 blast to grab a 52-42 lead. That double-digit advantage didn’t last long as Golden State answered with a 10-2 run to cut the deficit to two points with 1:38 left.
Ty Lue’s men had the last laugh in the opening half, finishing the second quarter on a 7-1 run to head into the interval with an eight-point cushion.
Brandin Podziemski led the Warriors’ attack with 12 points. Kristaps Porzingis had nine points, while Stephen Curry dropped 8 points on 2-for-9 shooting from the field.
