The Golden State Warriors and Phoenix Suns find themselves in familiar territory: a single game to decide whether their season continues or ends.
Set for Saturday (PH time), their play-in tournament showdown carries the weight of a playoff Game 7. The stakes are clear. Tthe winner advances to face the top-seeded Oklahoma City Thunder, while the loser heads into the offseason.
Golden State enters with momentum after a stirring 126-121 comeback win over the Los Angeles Clippers. The Warriors erased a 13-point deficit behind a blistering late run, showcasing the shot-making and composure that have defined their championship core. Stephen Curry once again led the charge, embracing the high-stakes environment that has become second nature to him.
Phoenix, however, is under a different kind of pressure. Despite a stronger regular-season finish, the Suns are now at risk of becoming the first team to go winless at home in a single play-in tournament. That adds urgency to a team that has otherwise exceeded expectations this season.
The season series offers little separation. Golden State won three of four meetings, but each contest was tightly contested. Margins were razor-thin, and Saturday’s clash is expected to be no different.
Ultimately, it may come down to which team handles the moment better. The Warriors bring championship pedigree and a nothing-to-lose mindset. The Suns counter with home-court advantage and the burden of expectation.
