The MPL Philippines announced that the Season 17 playoffs will be held at the Filoil EcoOil Centre in San Juan City for the first time, with the postseason scheduled from May 27 to 31.
The return of a major ML:BB event to the San Juan venue marks a significant moment for the esports scene, as the last time the venue hosted a competition of this scale was during the 2019 Southeast Asian Games, where SIBOL captured its first gold medal in the event.
“The MPL PH S17 playoffs stage is set. The road to the championship leads to San Jan Arena. Get ready as the league’s best battle it out on one stage for ultimate glory,” said the league in a social media post.
The regular season is currently ongoing at the Victoria Sports Tower in Quezon City, with Week 5 underway. The elimination round is set to conclude on May 16, wrapping up a tightly contested campaign among the league’s top teams.
Following the end of the regular season, teams will have nearly two weeks of preparation time before the playoffs begin, giving contenders a brief but crucial window to regroup and fine-tune their strategies.
Defending champion Team Liquid PH currently sits atop the standings after a perfect 7-0 sweep in the first round, while Team Falcons PH remains close behind in second place with a 6-1 record, setting up a tight race heading into the final stretch of the regular season.
