Andy Gemao finally suited up for University of the Philippines as it edged College of Saint Benilde, 81-80, in the AsiaBasket National Student Athletes Championship (NSAC) on Saturday at the UP Varsity Training Center in Quezon City.
The highly touted guard delivered 19 points, five rebounds, and five assists to lead UP, the squad he is expected to join in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) should he pursue his collegiate career locally.
Gemao, however, is still weighing potential offers from the United States’ National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), which is why his move to the Fighting Maroons has yet to be finalized.
Also contributing to the win were Gani Stevens, who posted 14 points and 11 rebounds, and Rey Remogat, who added 13 markers as UP notched its second straight victory.
On the other hand, Matthew Jucom led the Blazers with 17 points, while Jhomel Ancheta chipped in 12, but these were not enough as Benilde absorbed its second loss in three games.
