The San Antonio Spurs inched closer to booking a place in the Western Conference Semifinals, taking a 65-45 halftime lead over the Portland Trail Blazers in Game 5 of their first-round series on Wednesday (PH time) at Frost Bank Center.
The Spurs got off to a strong start, building a 36-24 lead after the first quarter. Julian Champagnie was on fire, scoring 11 of his team-high 14 points during that period.

The Spurs sustained the momentum in the second quarter, outscoring the Blazers 29-21 to grab a commanding 20-point lead at the break.
Stephon Castle and Dylan Harper scored 9 points each for the Spurs, who hold a 3-1 lead in the best-of-seven series.
Deni Avdija led the way for Portland with 16 points on 6-for-8 shooting. He was the only Blazer to score in double figures in the first half.
