In the Western Conference Semifinals, the Minnesota Timberwolves pulled off an upset victory over the San Antonio Spurs, winning 104-102. Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards, returning just nine days after his injury and playing through the pain, delivered a clutch fourth-quarter performance to lead Minnesota to the win.
Edwards came off the bench in the first quarter and looked sharp early, scoring 5 points on 2-of-2 shooting as the Timberwolves traded blows with the Spurs. Through three quarters, San Antonio held a three-point lead.
Edwards took over in the final frame, going 5-of-7 from the field for 11 points, carrying the Timberwolves' offense and helping them surge ahead. Among his fourth-quarter highlights was a difficult pull-up three-pointer over the outstretched arm of Victor Wembanyama.
Edwards finished the game with 18 points. His return is a major boost for the Timberwolves and makes this series far more compelling and unpredictable.
