Steve Kerr is staying with the Golden State Warriors after agreeing to a new two-year contract extension, according to Shams Charania.
Charania reported that after weeks of discussions, both sides reached an agreement to continue one of the NBA’s most successful partnerships, ensuring Kerr will remain on the sidelines for his 13th season and beyond with Golden State.
The new contract will reportedly make Kerr the highest-paid coach in the NBA on an annual basis. His previous salary was believed to be around $17.5 million per year.
Kerr has cemented himself as the greatest coach in Warriors franchise history since taking over in the 2014-15 season. He immediately delivered a championship in his first year and has since guided Golden State to six NBA Finals appearances and four NBA titles.
Under Kerr, the Warriors built one of basketball’s modern dynasties, led by stars including Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green.
