Team Falcons PH closed in on a spot in the upper bracket after surviving Twisted Minds in a hard-fought 2-0 victory in the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Philippines Season 17 regular season, Sunday at the Victoria Sports Tower.

Behind Stephen “Super Marco” Requitiano and Michael “Kyle” Sayson, the playoff-boundTeam Falcons moved on the verge of securing a spot in the upper bracket semifinals and remained in the race for the top seed after improving to 10-2, trailing league-leading Team Liquid PH, which stands at 12-1.

Super Marco played a pivotal role in the marathon 20-minute opener, dealing the bulk of Team Falcons’ damage while delivering in key objective fights to help his squad escape with a narrow 9-8 victory over Twisted Minds.

The 19-year-old gold laner finished with two kills and five assists in the Game 1 win and dealt a total of 77,757 damage.

Kyle then took over in Game 2, putting on a stellar performance with Suyou to help Team Falcons weather a late rally from Twisted Minds and secure an 18-9 victory in 14 minutes and 22 seconds.

He put up 11 kills and three assists against two deaths in the Game 2 victory that helped complete the sweep.

Twisted Minds slipped to 5-8 but remained in contention for one of the last two playoff berths, currently sitting at fifth place in the standings.

Meanwhile, ONIC PH took down Aurora Gaming PH, 2-1, to also strengthen its bid for the last upper bracket spot.

Cyric “K1NGKONG” Perez (Suyou) came up clutch in Game 3, securing the Lord in the 17th minute before forcing his way into Aurora’s base to close out the match, with his teammates holding off the rest of the opposition and preventing any defense.

K1NGKONG tallied seven kills and seven assists without a single death in the thrilling 17-13 Game 3 win that lasted nearly 18 minutes, powering ONIC PH to an 8-4 record and keeping them in third place.

Aurora actually took Game 1 of the series thanks to an impressive Kimmy performance from Yue, but Frince “Super Frince” Ramirez towed ONIC PH to a Game 2 win on Gord.

The reigning world champions remained winless in the second round, dropping its fifth consecutive game to slide to a 3-9 record and now tied with AP Bren at the sixth spot.
