The NBA Draft Lottery delivered a franchise-altering night, with the Washington Wizards landing the No. 1 overall pick after finishing last season with a league-worst 17–65 record and entering the lottery with the highest odds at 14.0%.
The Utah Jazz secured the No. 2 selection, while the Memphis Grizzlies rounded out the top three. The Chicago Bulls jumped into the fourth spot to close out the top tier of the draft order.
The night’s biggest setback belonged to the Indiana Pacers, who slid to No. 5. That drop proved costly, as it pushed their pick outside the top-four protection tied to a previous deal, forcing them to convey the selection to the Los Angeles Clippers.
The pick was originally part of a February trade that sent Ivica Zubac and Kobe Brown to Indiana in exchange for Bennedict Mathurin, Isaiah Jackson, a top-4 protected 2026 first-round pick, an unprotected 2029 first-round pick, and additional future second-round selections.
