The Minnesota Timberwolves evened their Western Conference semifinal series against the San Antonio Spurs with a gritty 114-109 win in Game 4 on Monday (PH time) in Minneapolis.
It was a tight contest throughout, with San Antonio holding a slim lead for much of the night while Minnesota stayed within striking distance.
The game took a dramatic turn in the second quarter when Victor Wembanyama was assessed a Flagrant 2 foul after elbowing Naz Reid in the chin. The ejection marked the first of Wembanyama’s career and came after just 12 minutes of action.
Despite losing their superstar, the Spurs stayed composed behind the efforts of Stephon Castle, Devin Vassell, and Dylan Harper, who kept the Wolves under pressure deep into the fourth quarter.
Minnesota finally broke through late, taking a 100-99 lead with just over four minutes remaining before the game turned into a back-and-forth battle.

Anthony Edwards, who was even seen taking oxygen during breaks, delivered in crunch time with a clutch floater. Moments later, Julius Randle found Rudy Gobert for a slam before Reid added a crucial offensive putback to stretch the lead to seven.
San Antonio made one final push after a steal led to free throws from Julian Champagnie, trimming the deficit to three, but Minnesota held on the rest of the way.
Edwards finished with 36 points and six rebounds to lead the Wolves.
With the victory, Minnesota ties the series at 2-2 heading into Game 5 on Wednesday in San Antonio.
