TNT defeated Meralco, 94-89, to claim Game 1 of their PBA 50 Commissioner's Cup best-of-seven series this Wednesday at the Ynares Center in Antipolo.

With Tropang 5G defending a seven-point advantage, Bong Quinto drained a booming four-pointer at the 56 seconds mark of the fourth quarter to keep Meralco at striking distance, 92-89.

Bol Manute Bol came to the rescue with another tough jumpshot against Meralco import Marvin Jones to ice the game for TNT. Calvin Oftana then split his free throws at the 11.2 mark to get to the final score.

Bol dazzled the jampacked arena with 37 points, 11 rebounds, and eight assists, followed by RR Pogoy, who had 21 points. Jordan Heading scooped the Best Player of the Game citation with 16 markers.

Tropang 5G first seized the momentum after they unleashed an 18-9 run to reclaim an 11-point advantage, 88-77, midway in the fourth quarter.
