Meralco announced that it is replacing Marvin Jones with Patrick Yousef Gardner for Game 4 of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) 50 Commissioner’s Cup on Wednesday.

The Bolts made the change after a deflating 77-75 loss to TNT even with the Tropang 5G playing without an import after they lost Bol Manute Bol for the rest of the conference due to a tear in his left Achilles heel.

Gardner is an American-Egyptian who plays for Egypt’s national team, most recently during the FIBA Basketball World Cup Africa qualifiers last year.

The seven-foot Gardner also played for the Long Island Nets and Osceola Magic in the G League, Petro de Luanda in the Basketball Africa League, and Fukushima in the Japan B.League.

The Bolts felt the need for the change even after Jones scored 22 points and grabbed 15 rebounds in Game 3.
