San Antonio Spurs center Mason Plumlee's foul on Oklahoma City Thunder guard Jared McCain with 1:39 remaining in the fourth quarter of Game 5 of the Western Conference Finals has been upgraded from a common foul to a Flagrant 1 following postgame review, the NBA announced on Thursday (PH time).
Replays showed Plumlee, while trailing Alex Caruso, intentionally collided with McCain, knocking him to the ground. Isaiah Hartenstein was visibly upset, exchanging words with Plumlee from behind Bismack Biyombo, who then turned and pointed at Hartenstein in anger. On the very next possession, Biyombo also knocked McCain to the floor.
After the game, McCain spoke about the incident: "Yeah, that was crazy. I didn't expect it... we were at the free throw line and I was like, 'Why'd you do that man?' ... And he's like, 'I got another one for you too."
