The San Antonio Spurs entered the halftime break with a 60-53 lead over the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 6 of the Western Conference Finals on Friday (PH time) at Frost Bank Center.
Needing a victory to avoid elimination, the Spurs came out firing in the first quarter, building a 35-22 lead over the Thunder. San Antonio leaned on its outside shooting to create some separation, going 8-for-14 from beyond the arc.
Oklahoma City immediately responded in the second quarter, opening the period with a 19-12 run to cut the Spurs' lead to six points.
Victor Wembanyama's tip shot with 5.5 seconds left helped San Antonio grab a 7-point lead at the break. He was outstanding in the first two quarters, scoring 22 points and grabbing 6 rebounds.
Cason Wallace provided some much-needed offense for OKC off the bench, dropping 11 points on 4-of-4 shooting. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander added 10 points for the Thunder, who are one win away from a return trip to the Finals.
