The Western Conference Finals have delivered an absolute NBA classic. The defending champion Oklahoma City Thunder and their regular-season kryptonite, the San Antonio Spurs, have traded haymakers for six straight games.

Before the ball goes up for tomorrow's winner-take-all showdown at the Paycom Center, let’s relive the chaotic, star-studded journey that brought us to Game 7.

Game 1: The Double-OT Thriller (Spurs 122, Thunder 115

The series opener set an impossibly high bar. San Antonio jumped out early, but OKC clawed back to force a chaotic final frame. After late-game triples from Devin Vassell and Alex Caruso, Victor Wembanyama and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander traded cold-blooded buckets in the final 11 seconds. Chet Holmgren blocked Wemby at the regulation buzzer to send it to OT, but by the second overtime, the French phenom was simply too much. Wemby capped off a legendary 41-point, 24-rebound night with a thunderous and-one dunk and a dagger triple to steal Game 1 on the road.

Game 2: SGA and the Bench Response (Thunder 122, Spurs 113)

OKC played with an absolute chip on their shoulder, racing out to an early double-digit lead behind reigning MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. Already missing De'Aaron Fox, San Antonio suffered another massive gut punch when rookie guard Dylan Harper exited with a hamstring injury. Despite the short rotation, the Spurs tied it at 69 in the third. However, Caruso, Isaiah Hartenstein, and Holmgren engineered a decisive 10-0 run from the charity stripe, and SGA buried a late dagger three to finish with 30 points and even the series.

Game 3: OKC’s Flexes Might (Thunder 123, Spurs 108)

Returning to San Antonio for their first West Finals home game in a decade, the Spurs crowd was electric, fueling an insane 15-0 run in the first three minutes. A lesser team would have folded, but the defending champs didn't blink. OKC methodically chipped away, outscoring the Spurs by 12 in the second quarter and unleashing a bench onslaught led by Jared McCain (24 points). SGA masterfully orchestrated the offense with 26 points and 12 assists, completely silencing the Frost Bank Center.

Game 4: Wemby from the Logo (Spurs 103, white flag raised 82)

If Game 3 was a masterclass by the champs, Game 4 was an absolute demolition by the challengers. The Spurs played wire-to-wire angry. The defining snapshot of the night came just before halftime when Wembanyama pulled up and drilled a jaw-dropping buzzer-beater from the logo, sending the home crowd into a frenzy. Stephon Castle’s relentless hustle pushed the lead to 25 in the third, allowing both coaches to pull their superstars early in the fourth quarter to preserve legs for the home stretch.

Game 5: The Caruso Game (Thunder 127, Spurs 114)

Down two starters, OKC leaned heavily on their depth, and Alex Caruso answered the call beautifully. Caruso caught absolute fire, dropping 22 points and hitting four triples, while McCain moved into the starting lineup to chip in 20. The statistically staggering storyline here? The Thunder reserves completely outplayed San Antonio's bench, maintaining a massive 257-127 bench-scoring advantage through five games. The win put the Thunder just 48 minutes away from a return to the Finals.

Game 6: Alien Invasion (Spurs 118, Thunder 91)

With their season on the line, Victor Wembanyama simply refused to let the Spurs die. Shaking off a rough Game 5, the big man put up an elite stat line: 28 points, 10 rebounds, 3 blocks, and 2 steals. The true knockout blow came in the third quarter, where San Antonio choked out the Thunder offense with a staggering 20-2 run. With Dylan Harper (18 points) and Stephon Castle (17 points, 9 assists) dealing off the bounce, the Spurs turned the fourth quarter into a celebratory countdown to Game 7.

Six games. Three blowouts, two hard-fought responses, and one double-overtime epic. Tomorrow night at the Paycom Center, the talking stops. Win or go home.

hot commentIf it weren't for the blind and purposeful refereeing in the second game, it would already be the Knicks vs. the Spurs now.
