By Joel Reyes

The San Antonio Spurs entered the halftime break with a 55-48 lead over the New York Knicks in Game 1 of the 2026 NBA Finals on Thursday (PH time) at Frost Bank Center.

Julian Champagnie starred for the Spurs, scoring 15 points on 5-of-6 shooting from deep. Dylan Harper added 12 points off the bench for the Spurs, who responded to the Knicks' second-quarter surge. They finished the half on a 13-5 run to grab a seven-point lead at the break.

Jalen Brunson, who suffered knee and ankle injuries in the first half, powered New York's uprising during that period, scoring six straight points to give the Knicks a 38-37 lead. He finished the half with 11 markers.

Victor Wembanyama scored 9 points in the first half, shooting just 2-of-8 from the field in his Finals debut.
