A fan who ran onto the court during Game 1 of the NBA Finals between the New York Knicks and San Antonio Spurs has been arrested and banned for life from all NBA arenas, according to a statement from the league.
Basketball reporter Tim Reynolds shared the NBA's statement, which also confirmed that a second individual involved in the incident will receive a lifetime ban for his role.
The disruption occurred midway through the fourth quarter of the Knicks' 105-95 victory over the Spurs. One spectator broke free from security, climbed over the sideline barrier, and sprinted onto the court in an apparent attempt to take a selfie with Spurs star Victor Wembanyama.
The unexpected intrusion briefly halted play as players and officials looked on. Arena security quickly intervened, restraining and removing both individuals before the situation escalated further.
