Alex Eala will resume her campaign at the 2026 Birmingham Open on Saturday, with the Filipina tennis star set to face Rebeka Masarova in the semifinals on Centre Court at Edgbaston Priory Club.
Action will start at 6 p.m. tonight, with Eala seeking to reach the finals of a WTA event for the first time this year.
Eala holds a 1-0 edge over Masarova in their head-to-head matchup, with their lone meeting coming at the ITF W75 Trnava in Slovakia last year. The Quezon City native stamped her class in that contest, securing a 6-4, 6-3 win.
Eala enters the semis clash in outstanding form as she has yet to drop a set in the tournament. Her latest victory came against Mananchaya Sawangkaew, with Eala recording a 6-3, 6-2 win in the quarterfinals.
The No. 1 seed will be tested against Masarova, who went through qualifiers to punch her ticket to the main draw. She made the most of her qualification, beating Tereza Martincova, Tatjana Maria, and Mary Stoiana in the first three rounds.
