Angel Reese and the Atlanta Dream held off a late push from Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever to secure a 108-101 victory in WNBA regular-season action on Friday morning (PH time) at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
The Dream built their advantage in the second quarter and maintained control through much of the third, but Indiana refused to fade.
The Fever fought back to tie the game at 93 with 5:08 remaining after Sophie Cunningham’s reverse layup, setting up a tense finish between the rivals.
From there, the game turned into a back-and-forth battle. With Atlanta up by two inside the final two minutes, Rhyne Howard hit a key floater to stretch the lead to a two-possession game.
Indiana had a chance to respond, but Makayla Timpson's attempt inside the paint missed the mark. Atlanta capitalized immediately, with Howard scoring again before Reese finished an and-one play to extend the lead to seven with 23 seconds left.
Reese led the Dream with 21 points and 11 rebounds. Jordin Canada added 18 points, while Naz Hillmon and Allisha Gray contributed 17 apiece. Howard finished with 16 points in a balanced Atlanta effort.
Clark delivered a strong all-around performance with 26 points and seven assists, but it was not enough to overcome Atlanta’s late surge.
