Alex Eala offered some kind words to Elina Svitolina after the Filipina punched her ticket to the 2026 Berlin Tennis Open semifinals on Saturday (PH time) with a straight-sets victory.
Eala praised the Ukrainian after securing the 6-3, 6-4 win on Steffi Graf Stadion, saying:
"Elina is a huge fighter and I've seen it many times. I've been watching her since I was a kid so to be able to compete with her today is such an honor. I really admire her. She's a mother and I find her to act with such elegance and strength. I'm really lucky to have had this match today."
Eala has had a magical run in Berlin, beating Queen's champ Donna Vekic, World No. 2 Elena Rybakina, and now the World No. 8 Svitolina in the first three rounds.
Next up for the Quezon City native is a semifinal showdown with No. 8 seed Linda Noskova.
