The Phoenix Suns escaped with a 108-105 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves during their 2025-26 NBA regular season clash on Tuesday (PH time) at Target Center in Minneapolis.
Mark Williams led the Suns with 22 points and 7 rebounds, while Collin Gillespie chipped in 19 markers and 6 boards, including the game-sealing free throws.
Tied at 84 entering the fourth, Phoenix opened the final frame with a strong 14-3 run to take control. But Minnesota refused to fold, answering with a 10-2 surge to trim the deficit to 100-97.
Down by three in the final seconds, Anthony Edwards struggled to get a clean look from deep and settled for a quick layup to cut the lead to one, 106-105.
Forced to foul, the Wolves sent Gillespie to the line, where he calmly knocked down both free throws. With only six seconds to work, Jaden McDaniels launched a potential game-tying three but missed.
Minnesota also had to weather the loss of Rudy Gobert, who was assessed a Flagrant 2 and ejected with 7:59 remaining in the third quarter after forearm-checking Williams in midair.
With the win, the Suns improved to 14-10 and now turn their attention to the 2025 NBA Cup, where they will face the powerhouse Oklahoma City Thunder in Thursday’s quarterfinals.
The Wolves, now 15-9 and no longer part of the in-season tournament, will resume regular-season play on Saturday when they visit the Golden State Warriors in San Francisco.
