Alex Eala steals show with Filipiniana terno dress at Laureus Sports Awards

Alex Eala turned heads on Tuesday (PH time) in Madrid when she attended the 2026 Laureus World Sports Awards wearing a stunning Filipiniana terno dress. The Filipina tennis star stole the show on the red carpet of the “Oscars of Sports” as she proudly championed the country’s national dress.

Eala got to meet sports superstars Novak Djokovic and Eileen Gu in the event, with the Quezon City native sharing a selfie with the pair on her Instagram story. It was a fun night for Eala, who will be starting her campaign at the Madrid Open on Wednesday.

Eala will face a qualifier in the first round of that WTA 1000 event, with the winner of that clash set to square off against No. 19 seed Elise Mertens in the second round. The Quezon City native has struggled on clay this season, carrying a 1-2 record on the red dirt after suffering back-to-back losses to Jelena Ostapenko and Leylah Fernandez.
