The Houston Rockets staved off elimination on Thursday (PH time), defeating the Los Angeles Lakers 99-93 in Game 5 of their Western Conference first-round series clash at Crypto.com Arena.
All five starters scored in double figures for the Rockets, who stayed alive in this year's playoffs despite missing the services of star player Kevin Durant in Game 5 due to an ankle injury.

Jabari Smith Jr. and Tari Eason powered Houston's offense, scoring 22 and 18 points, respectively.

The Rockets looked to be on their way to an easy victory after building an 87-74 lead in the fourth quarter. The Lakers battled right back, though, unleashing an 11-1 run to cut the deficit to three points.
Houston thwarted LA's comeback bid, finishing the contest on an 11-8 run to extend the series to a Game 6.
Houston spoiled the return of Austin Reaves, who saw action for the first time in this series after missing the last 9 games because of an oblique injury.

Reaves finished the contest with 22 points. LeBron James added a team-high 25 points for the Lakers, who lead 3-2 in the best-of-seven series.
The series shifts to Houston for Game 6 on Saturday, May 2.
