The second-seeded San Antonio Spurs and the No. 6 seed Minnesota Timberwolves will square off in the 2026 NBA Western Conference Semifinals starting on Tuesday (PH time).

Head-to-head matchups in 2025-26 season

San Antonio and Minnesota met three times in the regular season, with the Timberwolves holding a 2-1 advantage. Minnesota won its first two meetings with San Antonio at home, recording a 125-112 victory on Dec. 1 and a narrow 104-103 win on Jan. 12.

The Spurs avoided the season sweep, beating the Wolves 126-123 in their final meeting on Jan. 18. Victor Wembanyama led San Antonio in that contest with 39 points, while Anthony Edwards dropped 55 markers for Minnesota.

Key players

Victor Wembanyama impressed in his first-ever NBA playoff series, averaging 20.2 points and 6.8 assists through four games against the Portland Trail Blazers. He showed no signs of the concussion that sidelined him for Game 3, posting double-doubles in Games 4 and 5 to help San Antonio clinch the series.

Jaden McDaniels stepped up big time for shorthanded Minnesota, averaging 17.8 points and 6.8 rebounds in the series win over Denver. The Wolves will need his offensive production more than ever against the Spurs, with Anthony Edwards’ status remaining uncertain in the second round.
