The New York Knicks captured the 2026 NBA title in dramatic fashion on Sunday (PH time), defeating the San Antonio Spurs 94-90 in Game 5 of their championship series at Frost Bank center.
Jalen Brunson cemented his status as the greatest Knick ever, scoring 45 points in the series clincher. He shot 14-of-27 from the field and 13-of-15 from the free-throw line for the Knicks, who won the best-of-seven series 4-1.
The Spurs suffered another fourth-quarter meltdown, surrendering another double-digit lead down the stretch against the Knicks, who won their first NBA title since 1973.
The Spurs saw their double-digit lead in the final period evaporate after the Knicks finished the contest on a 21-7 run.
Dylan Harper and Victor Wembanyama scored 25 and 19 points, respectively, for the Spurs, whose lack of experience cost them dearly in this year's NBA Finals.
